Monday Free Write Question

Q:How come there is a giant rock called haystack rock sticking out of the ocean just off the coast of Cannon Beach, Oregon.

  1. Haystack rock was formed by lava from the Grand Ronde Mountains. It is made of baysalt.

  5. OR MAYBE...his parents raised him to think that everything was the opposite of what it actually was. so like, blue was pink, and water was sand, and shirts were pants, and rocks were haystacks!!!! YES!! sometimes i surprize myself

  8. O.K I have the real reason, if you look at haystack rock, doesn't it look like a pile of hay or a haystack! Also when it was named(in the pioneer times) there were plenty of haystacks around. So it was named haystack rock not because of content but of image.

  10. It does kind of look like a haystack, but wouldn't you think there would be other things that look like that general shape that fit the description better. I mean hay and rock are total opposites.
